Southern California has a few great day trip destinations, including Big Bear, Idyllwild, Julian, Tijuana, and Temecula. I’ve gotten the pleasure of experiencing most of these locations, each one with its own charm and entertainment factor. Admittedly, I haven’t spent a ton of time in Temecula. It’s a city with a population of around 100,000 located in Southern Riverside County, and it’s best known for it’s Temecula Valley Wine Country. It’s a little over an hour away from home, and I’ve gone to a couple wineries and horse shows there. When I heard that my team at work was planning a two-day offsite there, I was stoked and excited for it!
We rented this amazing and gigantic 10,000 square foot house with 9 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, and two kitchens sitting on 5 acres in wine country. It was gorgeous. We had a combination of catered food and a personal chef who came and cooked up the most delicious foods (and was very vegan accommodating!) so it was a tasty treat for everyone. It’s always a blast to get away with friends at the office, especially since 90% of my time is spent working remotely from home. I love the chance to bond and socialize with them over great food and potent drinks.
Of course, though we haven’t had rain in months, it decided to pour rain the entire two days we were there. Ouch. It really only ended up affecting the commute, because all of our activities were planned for indoors anyway (video games, working, wine tasting). I was admiring the fall colors, even though they’re not nearly as bright as those of you with east coast fall colors! A girl’s gotta be happy with what she has, y’all.
